I’m not sure if this is region specific but in the Houston, TX area, Blu Ray rentals are FREE for the month of August. You can check out one at a time.
Regular DVD rentals are $2.99/each. They are advertising it as a “cheap” date night. Since my husband and I never go out anyway, it works for us!
If you are not in this area, you may want to call your store first to see if they are participating in this promotion.
I almost missed this because we’ve been out of town and I’ve been busy getting ready to go back to work! You have to hurry if you want to do this deal because the sale ends tomorrow.
CVS has Tide on sale for $4.97 this week. If you buy two plus a small item (filler), and use the $2/10 CVS coupon and two of the $1 off coupons from the P&G insert that was in the paper on Sunday, you end up getting two bottles of Tide for $5.94 (or $2.97/each). That’s not a bad deal if you like Tide!
I had never used Tide before I discovered CVS and now it’s our favorite detergent!
While you’re there getting your Tide, you can also get some Dawn dish detergent (it would actually be a GREAT filler for your Tide deal). It is on sale for .88 and there was a coupon for .50/1 in the Sunday paper, so it’s .33/each.

I posted last week about the deal where you buy 4 trial sized Axe body wash and get 2 free movie tickets. It was fun while it lasted, but it looks like this promotion is no longer working (or like the registers have been programmed to no longer generate the movie tickets when you buy the trial sized body washes). (I’m still not quite sure why *I* got so excited about this deal considering how often my husband and I have even been out on a date or to the movies in the last 4 years since the kids came along, but I’m optimistic we can start soon, especially if we can make them “cheap” dates!)
In the ad that begins on Sunday (8/10), they do have Axe full sized body products on sale for $3.99 and they have the promotion listed as “Buy 3 products, get 1 movie ticket” and “Buy 4 products, get 2 movie tickets.” Not a bad deal if you LIKE the Axe body products and either way, depending on how much movie tickets are where you live (they are $8.75 here and $9 on weekends – OUCH!), it is still cheaper than buying the movie tickets. I figure that my husband won’t mind having some “manly” body wash for a change!
There is still some speculation as to whether or not the “deal” (with trial sized washes) will begin working again on 8/10 when the advertised promotion starts. Only time will tell (and of course I’ll post an update when I find out!).
Next week is kind of a slow week for CVS, but there are a few decent deals:
Alavert/Alavert D will be $5.99 and you get $3 in ECBs back. There is a $4 printable coupon (see the link below), so it will be like you are making $1 in ECBs. The limit is one per household.

Buy 2 Lamisil or Lamisilk (foot cream, powder, gel, spray, or pump), get $10 ECB
It says that prices start at $7.59. There were $3 off Lamisilk and $4 off Lamisil coupons in the paper a few weeks ago, which means that if you use two coupons, you will be making $.
Spend $25 in baby products, get $5 ECB back:

You have probably noticed that the prices of diapers have gone up A LOT (around $10.49/bag for Huggies/Pampers and most stores) lately, so this is a great price on diapers even without the ECBs. The Enfamil is also a great deal if you need formula and have formula checks! Buy the Enfamil, some CVS cotton swabs (or Huggies wipes), use a $2/10, and your formula checks, and you come out nicely.
You do not have to buy all $25 in products in one transaction. You can split them up. If you are doing different ECB deals, you can also do multiple transactions and use the ECBs earned from one deal to spend on the next deal so you are not spending as much out of pocket. (Of course, I have 5 CVS stores within 10 minutes of my house, so it’s no big deal to do multiple transactions!)
They are also having a deal on candy – spend $10, get $5 ECB. I won’t be doing this one because I sure don’t need more candy, but it’s not a bad deal, especially if you have any of the $1.50/1 Dove chocolate coupons that were in the paper a few months ago (which you would of course want to combine with the $2/10).
There is also this deal: Spend $15 on Energizer batteries, get a $5 ECB (I won’t be doing this because I have a ton of batteries, already). If you have the $1/1 coupons that were in the paper recently and used a $2 off coupon, it wouldn’t be too bad. If you don’t have the coupons, you can probably still order some on eBay or through a coupon clipping service. You’d need to buy 6 packages to make this work, and you’d still end up paying about $5 out of pocket, which isn’t bad if you need batteries.
In our area (which is considered the “Texas/Louisiana” region), the Kroger ad runs from 8/6-8/12. If you are in another area, there are probably some similarities, but things may not match up 100%. When in doubt, you can check the forum for your area on Hotcouponworld.com
It also includes Kroger “chain” stores such as Frys, King Soopers, and Dillons, and Smiths. If you don’t have a Kroger chain store in your area, you can find the grocery stores in your area here:

*Tyson or Pilgrims Pride boneless chicken breast or chicken breast tenders – BOGO free – they run this sale about once a month, and I like to stock up when they do because I usually have coupons to go with it – there were Tyson coupons in the paper a few weeks ago and there have also been “tear pads” in stores. There were Pilgrims Pride coupons in the paper awhile back also. Remember that you can use TWO coupons on BOGO free items. I usually get two packages of chicken breasts for about $3.99 using the coupons. If you don’t have the coupons this time around, it may not be the best time to stock up….just start keeping an eye out for them for next time! Remember if you are doing a BOGO to pick two packages of chicken that are almost the same price so you get the most for your money. The cheaper package always comes off as the “free” one.
*Blue Bell ice cream – $3.99 – print your $1/1 coupons on www.bluebell.com You just have to sign up on their site, and once you log in, you will see a link that says “Special Offers” or “coupons” or something to that effect. They have new coupons every month.
*Crest toothpaste – 10/$10 – there were coupons in this week’s inserts for .75/1 and $1/2, which makes cheap toothpaste
*Pillsbury Crescent rolls or cinnamon rolls – 10/$10 – There were coupons for the crescent rolls in the 7/13 inserts and there are also printable coupons online for both types at www.smartsource.com (check Pillsbury.com, too, because a lot of times they have coupons, as well)
*Pringles – 10/$10 – You can load a .50/1 coupon onto your shopper card at: http://www.softcoin.com/Sites/PG_eSAVER/Page/HomePage/
*Angel Soft bath tissue – $5.99 – there are .50/1 coupons for this which will double making it $4.99

(There will be MUCH better deals on cereal, especially with school starting, but if you need cereal, it’s not a bad deal)
*Pop Tarts/Fruit Snacks – $1.80 – There were $1/2 coupons in this week’s inserts and there were also fruit snacks coupons. The Pop Tarts are actually cheaper at CVS ($1.79/each) and you can use the $2/10 to make them even cheaper. There was a mail in rebate in Sunday’s paper for $10 when you buy 10 Kellogg’s products in one transaction
*Weight Watchers Smart ones – 6/$10 and 5/$10 – If you are a member of WW, you probably have tons of these. If not, here are some links to print coupons:
