Nielsen Homescan Openings Available: Get cash and prizes for shopping!

Nielsen National Consumer Panel is currently accepting new applicants! These opportunities only come along once in awhile and they typically fill their openings very quickly!

Here’s how it works:

They send you a hand-held scanner in the mail and the you use it to scan the bar codes on the items you purchase. Once a week, you submit your purchase information to them.

You earn points for submitting your information which can then be exchanged for prizes including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, and more! Plus, you’ll be entered into a sweepstakes to earn CASH!  You will also receive surveys by e-mail.

There are no minimum requirements for weekly purchases and sign-up is free! Sign up here to see if you qualify while spaces are still available! You’ll have to complete a short questionnaire (it took me less than 5 minutes) and they will e-mail you if you qualify! I have also heard that even if you’re not accepted into the scanner program, they will sometimes send you surveys and other opportunities along with cash reimbursement!

I just got my scanner in the mail a few days ago. Here’s what it looks like:

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but once I do, I’ll definitely give you more details! Let me know if you get accepted! If anyone has any person experiences about Nielsen, I’d love to hear those, too!

Apparently, once you’re “in” they also send you freebies!  I got this re-usable shopping bag from them in the mail yesterday.  It folds up and snaps shut, too.  Awesome!

I’ve been talking a lot about ways that you can save for a “cash Christmas” this year!  Swagbucks is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite ways to save money for Christmas and to get items our family needs all year round!  Check out what I got for free thanks to the Amazon gift cards I earned from Swagbucks!  I wish I could pay the bills with my Swagbucks, but since that’s not an option, I use them for the next best thing – gift cards that I can use for things we really need.  I guess it’s questionable as to whether or not we really “need” the Rice Krispies treats, but no one in my house was complaining!

*Read the e-mails you receive – You will get 1-2 e-mails per day with various offers (I have not gotten any additional spam from this site, but you may want to sign up with a different e-mail address). Click on the “get points” icon in the e-mails that you receive and they will be added to your account! I usually earn 150-200 points each month just by doing this!

*Print and redeem coupons – you can print your coupons through MyPoints and you earn points each month when you redeem them!

*Earn points for your Bzz Agent reports – If you are a member of Bzz Agent (and if you’re not yet, you should join that, too!), you will typically earn 50-100 points for every Bzz report you submit. These are added to your My Points account!

*Shop through the links on their site – I usually do most of my shopping through Ebates, but if a retailer is not listed with them, I always check out My Points next!

Your points will add up before you know it and with 1,500 points, you can cash out for gift cards from several popular retailers including:
