30 Days of Valentine’s Fun: Valentine Confetti

These goodie bags would be perfect for a Valentine’s party!  I think that we might do this for my daughter’s playgroup friends.  Maybe we will just make some for us to eat, too.  It looks so yummy!  Thanks to Nest of Posies for the idea!

  • 1 bag of M&M’s
  • 2 bags of Orville Redenbacher’s microwaveable Tender White Popcorn

30 Days of Valentine’s Fun: Red Velvet Valentine’s Brownies

This is a truly delicious dessert that is perfect for Valentine’s Day.  The picture alone makes me drool!  I can’t wait to try it out.  Thanks to Tara at Smells Like Home for the recipe!

Here’s what you need to make it:

For the brownies:
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 oz red food coloring (or a scant 2 tbsp)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract, divided
1/2 cup (8 tbsp) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt

For the white chocolate buttercream frosting:
1/2 cup (8 tbsp) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 oz good-quality white chocolate (not chips), melted – I recommend Callebaut
1 – 2 tbsp heavy cream

30 Days of Valentine’s Fun: Smarties Mini Parfaits

These mini parfaits would be such a fun dessert for a Valentine’s party.  The secret ingedient is powdered smarties in the yogurt.  Yummy!  Thanks to Rachel at Bubbly Nature Creations for the recipe!

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 7 rolls of Smarties Love Hearts
  • 1 cup Vanilla Yogurt (sweetened)
  • whipped cream in the can
  • red or pink food coloring
  • 8-10 plastic “shooters” which I found at Party City
  • 6 strawberries chopped
  • coffee grinder
  • hammer or mallet
  • Ziploc bag
  • piping bag/ coupler and any medium sized decorators tip (this is not necessary, but very helpful for filling the cups)

Cooking With Kids Thursday: Homemade Fruit Snacks

If your kids love fruit snacks, but you hate all that sugar then this recipe is perfect for you.  This is a recipe the whole family can get involved in making and I’m sure the kids won’t mind being the taste testers!  Thanks to All Day I Dream about Food for sharing her recipe!

  • 1 cup mixed berries
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup fruit juice (apple, cranberry, blueberry, whatever)
  • 2 envelopes gelatin (1 envelope = 2 1/2 tsp)
