Tasty Treat Tuesday: Smores Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

As if chocolate chip cookies weren’t good enough, someone had the awesome idea of stuffing smores into the middle of them!  Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face.  Thanks for the delicious recipe Dip It In Chocolate.

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 2 sticks (8 ounces) softened butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 24 graham cracker quarters or 12 full sheets separated at perforations
  • 3 Hershey Bars, broken into rows of 3 bars
  • 12 large marshmallows cut in half lengthwise

Cooking With Kids Thursday: Homemade Taffy!

This is a great family activity as you will need lots of arm power to twist and squeeze this taffy into shape!  I love the idea of letting the kids make their own batch with the color and flavor of their choice.  Thanks for the recipe Vanilla and Lace!

Here’s what you need to make this:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 T. Cornstarch
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 T. margarine/butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. Flavoring oil (I didn’t have flavoring oil so I used a tablespoon or more of Mint extract)

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Bite Size Banana Cream Pie

These just look so yummy and that is saying a lot considering I really don’t like pie.  So simple and yet so delicious.  I wonder how many I can eat before it is considered overeating…

Here is what you need to make these:

  • 1 small box of instant vanilla pudding
  • 1 3/4 cups cold milk
  • 2-3 bananas cut into 1/4″ slices
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 batch pie crust (recipe here) or store bought refrigerated pie crust

Tasty Treat Tuesday: Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Who says french toast is only for breakfast?  I’m thinking this would make a delicious dessert.  I just can’t stop drooling over the picture!  Thanks for the yumminess Tricks Chefs!

  • 12 slices day-old bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 12 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Cooking With Kids Thursday: Rice Krispie Treat Sparklers!

This is such a fun way for the kids to get in on the holiday festivities and the perfect addition to any 4th of July cookout!  Kids will love building their own sparklers out of rice krispies treats, strawberries and blueberries.  Thanks for the cute idea 5 minutes for Mom!

Here’s what you need to make these:

  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 10-ounce bag of mini-marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 6 cups of puffed rice (“Rice Krispies”) cereal
  • Strawberries (one per sparkler)
  • Blueberries (3-4 per sparkler)
  • Star shaped cookie cutter
  • Food skewers or lollipop sticks
  • Ribbon (optional)
