More Target deals!

I love it when additional Target deals pop up throughout the week!  Here are a few “new” deals I have come across.  Be sure you also check out the weekly deals before you make your trip!

Alpo Chop House canned dog food (13 oz chicken flavor and beef tenderloin flavor) is on price cut for $.64/can through 3/20.  Use the $1/2 Purina Alpo Chop House coupon from the 2-7 RP insert and get it for $.14/each! (This coupon is also available on My Coupon Hunter if you want to get more to stock up!)

Target has the 3-wick soy based Glade Fragrance Collection candles or Reed Diffusers for $8.99.  Use the $2/1 Glade Fragrance Collection printable and the $3/1 Target text alert coupon (this was sent out on Sunday) and get one for $3.99! (Don’t forget about the $5 SC Johnson rebate when you buy 3 participating items)

Kraft cheese shreds or blocks are priced at $2 this week.  There were $1/2 Kraft shreds or blocks in the 1-24 SS insert.  Combine this coupon with two $1/1 Target printable coupons (YMMV on being able to use both because they do state “one per transaction” on the coupon) and you can get them for $.50/each!

Here’s the breakdown:

Buy 2 Kraft cheese shreds or blocks – $2/each

Use $1/2 Kraft shreds or blocks manufacturer’s coupon – 1-24 SS
Use 2 $1/1 Target printable coupons

Total OOP = $.50/each

Target has Gillette body wash (8.4 ounces) priced at $1.99!  Use the $4/2 Gillette body wash from the 2/21 PG insert and get 2 for free!  (This coupon excludes the trial size, but these bottles are not the trial sizes.)  There was also a $2/1 Gillette body wash coupon in the 2-7 PG insert (My Coupon Hunter still has them available for $.18/each!)  People are reporting that they are finding these on the end caps in their stores.

Don’t forget about the P&G rebate (spend $50 and get a free coupon book)!

The Scotch Fur Fighter is on sale for $3.99 in the ad this week.  There is a $4/1 Scotch Fur Fighter printable coupon, so it’s free after coupon!  (Note:  these are reportedly ringing up at $5.99-$7.99 in the stores, so make sure you have your ad with you to prove the price!)

Hot deal on Taste of Home cookbooks!

I love Taste of Home recipes, so I’m really excited about this sale.  They currently have 18 cookbooks priced at $5!  Plus, you get free shipping when you spend $10 or more and use the code 347!  You can also get an additional 5% cash back when you shop through Ebates (and if you sign up for Ebates for the first time here, you’ll get a $5 referral bonus added to your account, so it will be like you’re getting one cookbook for free!)

Here’s how this works:

1.  Log in to your Ebates account (or sign up if you don’t have one currently) and search for “Taste of Home.”

P&G Year of Savings coupon book Rebate

Procter & Gamble has a GREAT rebate offer.  You get a P&G Year of Savings coupon booklet by mail when you spend $50 on participating P&G products.  The $50 is BEFORE any coupons you may use, so with the Gillette razor deal at Walgreens this week and the Olay deal at Target, you should be able to reach your $50 pretty quickly without having to spend a lot of money out of pocket.  I got one of these coupon books last year and it was AWESOME with lots of high dollar coupons for P&G products that we use regularly!

Here are the details:

1.  Spend $50 on any P&G products between 2/1/2010 and 4/15/2010.  (Remember this is before coupons have been applied!)

2.  Circle the P&G products and their corresponding prices on your original cash register receipt(s) – they do not have to all be on one receipt!

3.  Print the form and fill it out.

4.  Mail your completed form with the original, dated sales receipt(s) and product purchase prices circled in a stamped envelope to:

Get your Sunday insert coupons now!

The coupons that will be in tomorrow’s inserts are available NOW on My Coupon Hunter.  There will be THREE inserts and there are some great coupons!  Don’t forget to check out my printable coupon round-up for other great coupons!

There are lots of coupons, but here are the ‘hot” coupons that I’m seeing:

PROCTER & GAMBLE

$1/1 Crest Premium toothpaste paste – expires 3/31/10 – there is a monthly deal on this at Walgreens!

Buy one Gillette Fusion shave prep, get one Gillette body wash free – expires 3/31/10 – if you have the $1/1 Gillette Fusion shave gel coupons from the last P&G insert, you should be able to use that and this one and get some cheap shave gel and body wash!

$4/2 Gillette body washes or deodorants – expires 3/31/10 – pair this with the free body wash when you buy deodorant coupon from the last P&G insert and you should be able to get some GREAT deals on body wash an ddeodorant!

$2/1 Pampers Cruisers diapers – expires 3/31/10 – Pampers go on sale for $8.99 fairly regularly, so if you love Pampers, $6.99 is a decent price

Here are a few “Frequently Asked Questions” I get about stocking up on coupons:

How do you know if an item is going to go on sale? I don’t want to stock up on coupons and then have them go to waste.

In some cases (CVS and Walgreens), I can look at ad scans for upcoming weeks online and get a “heads up” about what will be on sale in upcoming weeks. In other cases, I have to go off of my experiences with sales cycles. There’s not a 100% chance that these items will go on sale, but typically if coupons are coming out in the inserts, they will match up with some sale in upcoming weeks.

Is it worth it to “buy” coupons when your goal is saving money? It seems kind of counterproductive.

If you are looking to stockpile items on a budget, the best way to do this is to pair coupons with sale prices and in order to really stockpile items, you are going to need multiple coupons. I know that some people buy multiple newspapers, but that doesn’t really “work” for me because then I have the extra work of coupon up with all of that paper. Using a coupon clipping service or eBay to get coupons is more time and cost effective for me because then I’m only getting coupons for the things that I want and need and they’re already clipped!

The savings far outweigh what I spend.

For example, let’s say I buy 10 .50/1 Bird’s Eye Steamfresh veggie coupons at $.09 each from My Coupon Hunter to pair with a 10/$10 sale at my grocery store (which doubles coupons). Using the coupons, I can get 10 bags of vegetables (which are normally $1.69 at my stores) for $.90 (the cost of my coupons). I have just saved $16.
